Tourism

As you visit Harrison County, enjoy your stay and experience the area’s natural beauty and small town values residents hold dear. Home to three scenic byways and the Loess Hills State Forest, driving here is an experience in itself. Look for the Lincoln Highway National Heritage Byway, Loess Hills National Scenic Byway, and Western Skies Scenic Byway signs and follow them as they gently curve and flow through the county.

Stop by the Harrison County Welcome Center and Historical Village to pick up tourism information and browse through the gift shop with Iowa-made products and Loess Hills wine. DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge will revive your senses, the Wisecup Farm Museum will take you back to yesteryear, and the Watson Steam Train will make you feel like a kid again. The Loess Hills Lavender Farm, and Sawmill Hollow Family Farm as well as Small’s Fruit Farm, bring you a wide array of tastes, scents, and locally grown products to enjoy. These are just a sample of the wide array of our museums and state and national historical sites.

Whether you’re looking for an outdoor experience, historical attractions and museums, or shopping and dining, Harrison County is the place for you. Trails, camping, fishing, antiquing and unique shops can be found throughout the area. Tourism and industry go hand in hand here. From attractions and entertainment to manufacturing and education, we are committed to offering a quality of life that is second to none.

Business-friendly, pro-development county leadership and quality educational opportunities work together to provide an atmosphere for growth and enhancement. Harrison County, as well as its communities, welcome you to enjoy local hospitality and small-town charm.
